Phonosurgery Workshops were conceptualised in 2007 by the Course Director, Dr. Nupur Kapoor Nerurkar, with the primary aim of creating an Annual platform wherein ENT Surgeons interested in Laryngology could exchange knowledge, clinical and surgical skills and stay abreast of all the latest developments in this specialized field. These Annual Workshops have been held at Bombay Hospital And Medical Research Centre where didactic lectures, panels, crossfires, symposia and live surgeries are performed along with hands-on workshops in Laser, Stroboscopy, Voice and Swallowing therapy and Injection Laryngoplasty. Along with the Department of Anatomy of Seth GSMC, hands on-cadaver dissection training in Laryngeal Framework Surgery and Neurolaryngology is taught.
Over the past 16 years we have had the opportunity to learn from both International and National Faculty and have grown in strength each year because of them.
I am delighted that the “17th Workshop on Phonosurgery” is being held in association with the “2nd meeting of Trans Voice Surgeons”. The International Association of Trans Voice Surgeons (IATVS) is a group that was formed in Berlin in June 2022. The theme of the first day will be pitch change surgeries and we shall learn from the best in the world, from Europe, North America, Asia and South America. The inaugural “Dr. M.V. Kirtane Oration” shall be delivered by Professor Markus Hess from Hamburg.
The second and third day will cover basics and advances in Laryngology with Live Surgeries, Panels, Symposium, Invited talks, Stroboscopy Workshop, Laser Instructional Course, Hands-on Laryngeal Framework Surgery training on Porcine Larynx, Cross-Fire, Free Papers and Posters.
